How Does our Coaching Work?

Our coaches monitor your training in 3 ways: 1) thru your power date 2) race/ride performance and 3) feedback in your own words.   For example: you'll send us your power data from your race and tell us how you felt and how the race or ride went in your own words. For higher level coaching programs like Levels 2, 4 & 5 we ‘do’ a lot of monitoring.  We'll monitor your training and dig a little deeper into what really happened and what we can figure out to better the next time.  We encourage all our athletes to call at least once a week or stop by (local) to discuss the finer points of their training and racing.  Expect to hear from us frequently as well.

Behind the scenes there’s variety of power based metrics we use to constantly adjust your training calendar so it’s “just right”.

A powermeter is highly recommend but not required. If you have one great, if not please visit the FasCat Performance Store for deals on SRM, Quarq, and Powertap systems. If you buy a powermeter from us we’ll give you a free month of coaching and waive the startup fee which is a value of $225 - $750 depending on which coaching plan you choose.

A powermeter enhances the coach-athlete relationship and we'll use it to measure your training load, review comparative power outputs and utilize TSS for power based performance modeling. All these tools will ultimately lead to your best performances to date.

Steps to Getting Started

We start with your FasCat Questionnaire, and an initial conversation (and ongoing dialogue) about what you’d like to achieve.  If you have any previous power data, we’ll go thru that with a fine tooth comb. After talking about your schedule, we design your training program from scratch every four weeks. Then we’ll proceed with a wattage based Field Test (if appropriate) to determine your power at threshold and begin your power based training.  If you'd like to request a new athlete questionnaire or talk with one of our coaches please give us a call (720.406.7444) an email or if you are in Colorado stop by our Performance Center in North Boulder.
