Smaller than its 705 counterpart, The Edge 500 is the size of a more traditional bicycle computer.  It has all the GPS and ANT Sport capabilities to display, record & download power data from your ANT Sport Powermeter.   Functionally it's the smaller version of the 705 without the mapping features and therefore 1/2 the price.
